Piaget

Summarize the impact of Piaget in Education today


Piaget and his theory have a big impact on education today. Many teachers use is theory in their classrooms. Piaget believed that social interaction was very important. Many teachers, especially in elementary school do group work or group projects. Piaget also believed that children should be taught at the level for which they are developmentally prepared. Meaning only teach children on the level they can be taught. Teachers again especially in elementary schools test there students either every day or once a week on the information they know so they can teach them on a level that works for them. Piaget also belived highly in schema, which is mental building blocks. Teachers use schema all the time because everyday your learning something new which means you recieving more and more building blocks. That is how and why Piaget's theory and Piaget have a huge impact on education today.

Vygotsky

Give an example oh where you have had scaffolding using by a teacher to raise you from your actual development to your potential development.

One example of scaffolding would be in elementary school when you are in reading groups. You begin learning your letters. Once you've learned all you letters you start to use those letters to make words. once you've learned an amount of words you can begin to read. as you read more and more you learn a larger amount of words and can begin to read hard level books.

Bandura

What parts of Bandura's theory do you agree with and disagree with?

I agree and disagree with many parts of Bandura's theory. I believe that actions are not random, they are learned by association. for example when a dad is asking his baby to say dada over and over eventually the baby will say dada. This means that i also agree that imitation is a powerful force. the part i don't agree on is that Bandura doesn't reward for good actions, i believe a child also learns by being rewarded because if they are rewarded they will repeat their good action and learn from it. They will realize that what they are doing is good becasue if it wasn't they wouldn't be rewarded. Another thing i disagree with is that people keep things in their mind that they don't need for anything. i believe that if we don't need the fact weve learned we will forget it by the next day or atleast the next week/month. the last thing i agrre with is chunking. Many children learn better when their teacher break information into chunks it helps them learn at a pace that is comfortable for them. Those are what parts of Bandura's theory that i aggre and disaggree with.
